For The Love Of Stamps DT Samples - Barrow In Bloom

Hi all

This is my last blog for the time being showing my Design Team samples for For The Love Of Stamps - this time I am focusing on the set called Barrow In Bloom.  This set would be perfect for all those avid gardeners in your life.

I made this card in the style of a fence simply by using 3 strips of card (the off cuts from when I trim down a 6 x 6" card blank to a 6 x 4") and sticking them together using strips of card  glued to the back.  I love the effect this gives, and it was just ideal to use with these stamps!  I achieved the wood effect on the panels by lightly dragging Vintage Photo Distress Ink down each one a few times - please make sure you do it lightly as it won't look as effective if you are heavy handed!  I stamped the wheelbarrow, pots, garden sign and watering can in Vintage Photo DI onto white card, and cut out.  Everything was coloured in using Vintage Photo DI, and ProMarkers (Lilac, Buttercup, & Apple).  They were adhered to the front of the card using glue, and foam pads - making sure to avoid the gaps in the fence.  The card was finished off with 2 stamped sentiments.

This is a z-fold card, easily made by cutting a strip off the top of a 6 x 6" card blank, then used to stick to the bottom of the card.  I cut panels of  yellow paper from the Beautifully Bright paper pad, and used Spiced Marmalade DI to randomly stamp watering cans, and  a sentiment over them.  I stamped the plant pot 3 times on white card, along with the bush using Versafine, and coloured in with Spiced Marmalade and Shabby Shutters DI.  To finish off I adhered the 3 plant pots to the z-fold mechanism with glue, and stamped a sentiment.

This is a shadow box card, easily made from 2 sheets of 7 x 7" white card stock and a few scorelines.  I die cut a circle from the front of one panel, and randomly stamped the flowers over it using Versafine before sticking the card base together using a wet glue.  I then stamped the wheel barrow out twice on white card, along with the garden sign and some grass.  Everything was coloured in using ProMarkers (Duck Egg, Lilac, Apple & Caramel), and then cut out - the flowers were cut off from the second wheelbarrow and used to layer up on the first wheelbarrow to give some dimension.  This was adhered to a circle matted onto a silver mirri mat using foam pads.  The card was finished off with a small sentiment, and some Stickles.

I hope you have enjoyed seeing all my Design Team samples, I've had an amazing time creating them, and hopefully I will be back soon to show some more.

As always if there are any questions, or comments then please do get in touch.

For The Love Of Stamps DT Samples - Tons Of Fun

Hello

Time to show another 3 of the DT samples I made - this time using the very cute Tons Of Fun set, these little elephants are just so cute, and perfect for so many different cards from birthdays to new babies.

This is the front of my Twist & Pop card (instructions for this card can be found on YouTube).  I cut a piece of purple paper from the Beautifully Brights paper pad, and used Hickory Smoke Distress Ink to randomly stamp the small elephant and present over it.  The band was made from white card stock, covered in plum paper from the paper pad, and I cut out an elephant, some presents and a sentiment.

This is the inside of the card, and I simply stamped various elephants on to white card panels, and cut out stamped sentiments.  I matted these all on to panels of purple and plum paper.  I really like this style of card, and it's very popular at the minute - think you might see me make a few more of these.

This is a quad easel card I made, and I simply stamped elephants, gifts etc on to the 4 various white panels, coloured them in using Pumice Stone Distress Ink and ProMarkers (Pastel Pink, Blue, Yellow & Green) then matted onto yellow and orange paper from the Pretty Pastel paper pad.

This is a view of the quad easel from above.

This is a 5 x 5" card, and I am loving the simple monochrome look with just a hint of gold.  I used Black Onyx Versafine ink to randomly stamp the sentiment stamp over the entire card blank, going off the edges of the card.  I then stamped the 3 elephants in the larger of the oval die cuts, and the sentiment in the smaller die cut.  Both were matted onto the corresponding gold mirri mats, and adhered to the front of the card with foam pads.  A strip of white organza ribbon was tied around the top of the card to finish it off.

Hope you liked seeing my samples, and if you have any questions or comments then please get in touch.

Thanks for looking, and happy crafting!

For The Love Of Stamps DT Samples - Ahoy Matey

Hi all

As promised here are the next 3 cards I created using stamps from the recent For The Love Of Stamps launch.

http://www.hunkydorycrafts.co.uk/

I have focused this time on the Ahoy Matey set, and have got to say this is ideal for any males you need to create cards for.

This card is made using a 6 x 6" card blank, trimmed down to 6 x 4".  I have used strips of paper from the Beautifully Brights paper pad, stamped images using Versafine Black Onyx ink, and matted onto black card - I adhered these to the card blank with ds tape.  I stamped the boat onto white card, and coloured in using Walnut Stain, Candied Apple and Salty Ocean Distress Inks, this was matted onto black card, then adhered to the card blank with foam pads.  I finished by stamping the sentiment in Versafine directly onto the bottom right hand corner of the card.

I have used a 6 x 6" card blank, and white cardstock measuring 5.5 x 5.5" and 5 x 5".  I used a heart template to lightly draw a heart in pencil onto the smaller of the 2 card squares, I then took the small anchor and stamped this in Salty Ocean Distress Ink following the pencil line.  I found it best to start at the top of the heart, and follow round doing 1 anchor at each side until finished.  I then stamped the larger anchor, and the sentiment in Salty Ocean, and cut both out - I also added Glossy Accent to the large anchor.  To get the perfect colour match mat layer for my card, I blended Salty Ocean around the edge of the larger piece of white card, and matted the smaller piece to this with ds tape.  I finished off by adhering both the large anchor and sentiment to the centre of the heart with foam pads.

Again this is a  6 x 6" card blank.  I cut a piece of white card to 5.5 x 5.5" and randomly blended Salty Ocean and Peacock Feathers Distress Inks over the entire card.  I then took a bubbles stencil, and randomly blended Peacock Feathers through this. I tied a strip of teal organza ribbon around the left side of this base before adhering to a square of silver mirri card.  This was stuck to the card blank with ds tape.  I used 2 die cut circles and their corresponding silver mirri mats, I stamped the large anchor onto the larger circle in Salty Ocean, and used a water brush to blend the colour.  The sentiment was stamped onto the smaller circle.  I blended Salty Ocean around the edges of both before adhering to mirri mats with ds tape.  I finished off the card by adhering both to the front using foam pads to give some dimension.

I hope you enjoyed seeing how I made my cards, and if there are any questions or comments then please get in touch.

Happy Crafting!

For The Love Of Stamps DT samples - Flowering Hydrangea

Hi All

Here are a few cards I have made using the brand new Flowering Hydrangea stamp set from For The Love Of Stamps. These are my first ever samples as part of the Design Team, and I hope I have done them justice and that you like them.  The stamps are fabulous to work with, and give a lovely crisp image every time you stamp.

First up is the card below....

I took a 6x4" card blank and cut a circle aperture in the right hand upper corner.  I used the small individual petals to randomly stamp the front of the card in Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink, then tied a white organza ribbon around the front of the card.  I then stamped the large hydrangea flower head in the inside of the card, ensuring it could be seen through the aperture, and added the stem - both stamped using Black Onyx Versafine Ink.  The image was coloured in using Spiced Marmalade and Shabby Shutters DI.  I chose the 'Live life in full bloom' sentiment and stamped this onto a scrap piece of white cardstock, and cut it out using a small circle die.  I finished off by blending Spiced Marmalade DI around the edges of the sentiment, and adhered to the side of the aperture.

I opted for a white 7x5" card blank this time.  I cut a piece of white card slightly smaller than the card blank, and using Candied Apple & Mustard Seed DI, I randomly stamped the large hydrangea flower head  - always ensuring I stamped off edge to give a balanced look!  I adhered this to the card blank using ds tape.  I then cut a smaller piece of white card measuring 1.5"x5", and stamped the sentiment in the middle using Black Onyx Versafine Ink.  Using Candied Apple DI, I stamped 3 small petals to either side of the sentiment using the fill in stamp, then I stamped the outline petal stamp in Versafine over the top - I used foam pads to stick this to the front of the card.

My final card using this lovely stamp set was created using some gilding flakes,  I took a 6x6" card blank, and cut a strip off the front to make a 6x4" blank, I then cut white card measuring 3.75"x5.75", and black card measuring 3.62"x5.62" & 1.3"x1.25".  I stamped the large Hydrangea head and stem onto black card using FlitterGlu, then added gilding flakes.  I tied black organza ribbon around the front of the card, and positioned the stamped sentiment on top of this.  I then used FlitterGlu to stamp around the edges of the white card, and added gilding flakes to this, matting the hydrangea stamped card onto this.  I adhered this to the front of the card blank using ds tape.

And that's it...my first ever samples complete, please get in touch if you have any questions about the above cards, or just to let me know  what you think.

Thanks for looking.

For The Love Of Stamps DT Application cards

Hi Everyone

I've been a busy little bee recently and not had much chance to blog - the reason being I have been lucky enough to have been selected by Hunkydory For The Love Of Stamps Design Team!!!  I am beyond excited, and am so thankful for this fabulous opportunity.

I seen their DT call out on Facebook, and thought 'Why not?' so I made some cards and emailed them off, never believing I would be chosen.  I just want to say if you see opportunities like this and feel like having a go but don't think your work is good enough...stop those thoughts and have a go - you never know, you might be just what they are looking for!  I have decided to blog today showing the cards I made, and give a wee description as to how I made them.

This is a 7x5" white card blank, the matts and layers are prepared from white and black card stock using dies from the Tonic Ornate Frame die set, I stamped the main image using Versafine, and coloured in using Promarkers.

I made this card using the Tonic Pinhole Square Layering Die Set, and a 6x6" white card blank.  I stamped the image onto a piece of white card, used the square die to give the pinhole effect, then cut out the square using my cutting board - I tied  a strip of black organza ribbon around this.  I then cut a larger square from black card, and matted the white square onto this.  I coloured in my image using Promarkers.  I finished off by adding some Tonic Nuvo Drops.

This is another 6x6" card blank.  I cut a square of white card slightly smaller than my card blank, and used a stamp from Forever Poppies to create a background using Candied Apple Distress Ink, I distressed around the edge using Black Soot Distress Ink, tied a piece of black organza ribbon around it and adhered this to my card blank.  I then cut a strip of white card to fit in the right hand side of the background card, I stamped my poppy image onto this using Versafine and coloured in using Candied Apple & Shabby Shutters Distress Inks.  I also distressed around the edge of this using Candied Apple, and Black Soot DI.  I finished off adding a small sentiment.

The above card is a shadow box card, made from two pieces of 7x7" cardstock, I die cut a circle aperture from one of the pieces, and stamped poppies along the bottom before assembling the card.  I stamped the main image, and cut out using a smaller circle die, and matted this onto a black circle die cut.  I coloured in using Promarkers, and finished off by tying some black organza ribbon around the top of the card, and adding a stamped sentiment.

Well time to go and make some more cards, I hoped you liked seeing how I have made my DT card samples, and if you have any questions please just ask.

Happy Crafting
